Due to a lack of adequate hotel room availability within the City of Azle, the Municipal Development District (MDD) commissioned an analysis of the current hotel market and demand to determine the feasibility of adding another hotel within the city. In June 2016, David Parker with DP Consulting performed a thorough market analysis and submitted a report to the MDD.
In 1987, a group of North Central Texas business and education visionaries created North Central Texas InterLink, Inc as a non-profit 501c3 organization to provide long-term regional labor market information to secondary and post-secondary education districts for career and technology program planning and development. Each year, an online survey is conducted of public and private employers throughout InterLink’s sixteen county North Central Texas service region. 2,000 surveys were sent to employers. A total of 1,327 respondents participated in the survey for a total of 66.35% compared to 57% in 2015.

In 2009, the City of Azle retained the professional services of GSBS Architects to study a 200 acre section of Downtown Azle, bordered by the southern intersection of Main Street and State Highway 199 (SH199), SH199 Frontage Road to the northern intersection of SH199 and Main Street, along Azle Highway to the east bank of Ash Creek to south Stewart Street and back to Main.
